Outer Order, Inner Calm: Ongoing Fall Book Discussion with Kelly Kandra Hughes
Date: 11/21/2022
Time: 1:00 pm-2:00 pm
This will be the year I finally get organized!
I need to declutter!
Life would be so much easier if I was organized.
There’s too much stuff in my house!
If you’ve ever said anything like these statements, know you’re in good company. Over half of Americans say they feel overwhelmed by their clutter. With different methods and advice out there, it can be difficult to get started or to know which methods will work best for you.
Join us virtually at the Norfolk Library this fall as we tackle our clutter using Gretchen Rubin’s Outer Order, Inner Calm: Declutter & Organize to Make Room for Happiness. Each week we’ll read a chapter, implement the strategies and tips that most resonate, and then come together via Zoom to discuss our progress and insights. Discussions will take place from 1:00-2:00pm on Mondays, from October 17 through November 28. Feel free to join the book discussion at any point on our schedule!

Kelly Kandra Hughes earned her PhD in psychology from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She became fed up with all her stuff after moving three times in four years. With each move, many boxes remained unopened until it was time to move again. Realizing she didn’t need most of what she owned, Kelly gave away, donated, sold, or trashed 95% of her belongings. She has never been healthier or happier. Her writings on minimalism has been featured on websites such as No Sidebar, Tracking Happiness, UpJourney, and The University of Surrey Centre for Environment and Sustainability. Kelly also works at the Norfolk Library as their Community Engagement & Online Programs Coordinator.
