Greenwoods Puppet Festival- Film Shorts

Date: 10/13/2023
Time: 3:45 pm-5:15 pm

Join us on Friday, October 13 at 3:45pm for a showing of one of Heather Henson’s Handmade Puppet Dreams films and a brief meet and greet with the puppeteers. Children will need a note to get off the bus at the library. There will be a snack before the film, and parents and children can meet the weekend puppeteers at the film’s conclusion. The featured film is family focused and is comprised of twelve engaging puppet shorts (Melvin the Birder, The Adventures of Liverwurst Girl, Corduroy Cat, The Pits, All About the Bees, The Most Best Hat, Sir Dance-a-Lot, Les Mutts: Teamwork, Loren the Robot: Team Me How to Dougie, Mountain Goat, Cupcake, and Nature Calls), setting the stage for the lively performances of the Puppet Festival.

A part of Heather Henson’s Ibex Puppetry, Handmade Puppet Dreams is a traveling film series that promotes independent artists exploring their handmade craft specifically for the screen. These films all focus on real-time puppetry, and allow artists to build their vision, and then breathe life into their dreams.

Founded in 2004, Handmade Puppet Dreams now includes seven main volumes of films, two volumes for families, and many unique collections. With this series, Heather Henson (along with Alex U. Griffin, Jessica Simon as the Micro-Commission Coordinator, and formerly Sam Koji Hale as Producer) have set out to showcase a new generation of puppeteers and puppet artists who embrace film as a medium for artistic expression.
