Concert: Paul Bisaccia plays George Gershwin

Date: 02/10/2024
Time: 3:00 pm-4:00 pm

On the centennial of Rhapsody In Blue, a 1924 musical composition written by George Gershwin for solo piano and jazz band, please join us for a program of Gershwin music, performed on piano by Paul Bisaccia.

Although Gershwin’s music is well known, Bisaccia will perform seldom played original solo piano arrangements that Gershwin composed. Included will be a little history, more humor, and many anecdotes that make the man who made the music come alive for an evening. An intimate concert such as this is most appropriate because this is how Gershwin himself performed his pieces for friends. The program will include lots of standards and favorites such as Swanee, ‘S Wonderful, and I Got Rhythm as well as the seldom played original solo piano version of Rhapsody in Blue that Bisaccia played on his PBS television special “Gershwin by Bisaccia.”

Bisaccia is the first person to record all the solo piano music of Gershwin. The American Record Guide says “For Gershwin interpretations, Bisaccia wins hands down.” Noted cabaret performer Michael Feinstein described Bisaccia’s performances as “consummate musicianship.”
