Art Exhibition: C.J. Guerin, A Brush with Nature

“A Brush with Nature” is an exhibition of the work of painter and printmaker C.J. Guerin and features scenes captured through her travels in the New England states. The exhibition will be on view during the month of March.

The oil paintings and prints explore the beauty of land and sky in an ever-changing moment of time. Many plein-air hours sketching on site helped to determine what medium and variety of surface might best express the scene. Through her use of color, texture, and composition, C.J.’s goal is to evoke a sense of time and place that allows the viewer to travel on their own journey. This body of work includes an homage to the prehistoric artists, who expressed their creativity on the walls of caves. Several pieces depict what these early artists drew. The exhibition also honors the noble horse. Many of her previous shows have been dedicated to fund raising to bring awareness to the need for horse rescue. C.J. hosts an annual “Paint Our Rescue Horses” workshop held each summer at Rising Starr Horse Rescue.

C.J. Guerin has been an art teacher for 30 years, teaching classes and workshops to teens through adults in a wide variety of mediums and techniques. As an elected Silvermine Art Guild artist since 2002, she joins the artists who have created a unique art colony in New Canaan, Connecticut. Her work is in many public and private collections.
