Book Launch Reception: Robin Crofut-Brittingham, The Illuminated Book of Blooms
Robin Crofut-Brittingham is an award-winning visual artist and writer whose work explores the intersection of real and imagined worlds, inspired by nature. Primarily a painter, her practice spans several disciplines all unified by an interest in deepening our connection to the natural world and encouraging closer observation of its beauty and complexity.
Robin will speak about her recent publication The Illuminated Book of Blooms, the second in a series of nature books she has written and illustrated. The first in the series, The Illuminated Book of Birds, was published by Hachette through Timber Press in October 2025. The Illuminated Book of Blooms will be published October 20, 2026. Both books will be available for purchase and signing.
The Illuminated Book of Blooms is a stunning, one-of-a-kind celebration of the world’s flowers. This classically-styled illuminated manuscript combines fine art with fun facts about flowers from around the globe. It features Robin’s lush, large-scale paintings of iconic blooms from Latin America, Africa, Asia, Oceania, North America, and Europe. She presents flowers together—grouping them by geography and family, and in special categories like medicinal, poisonous, and nocturnal—and delights in exploring their cultural and mythological significance.
Originally from Western Massachusetts, Robin received her BA from Bard College and completed her MFA at the San Francisco Art Institute. She was the recipient of the Murphy Cadogan Award from the San Francisco Foundation and a Martha Boschen Porter Award through the Berkshire Taconic Foundation. Her artwork has been featured in numerous international publications, and she has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout the US and Canada. Her paintings and murals are included in public and private collections around the globe. Robin now lives and works in Montreal with her husband, son, and beloved dog.
