Children’s Craft: Creating Toad Houses

Create your own toad house for your garden. In this activity, we will decorate clay pots with hand-painted designs featuring plants and small animals, adding a charming and personalized touch.

Toads play a vital role in maintaining a healthy garden ecosystem by naturally controlling pests. They consume insects such as mosquitoes, beetles, grubs, and worms—reducing the need for chemical pesticides. Inviting toads into your garden is an eco-friendly way to manage pests while adding a whimsical, decorative element to your outdoor space.

Once your decorated toad house is dry, place it in a cool, shaded area of your garden. Prop the pot on a rock or stone to create a lean-to-style shelter, offering toads a cozy and protective habitat. Remember to add a little tray of drinking water.

All supplies are provided. This program is part of the Norfolk Earth Forum and is co-sponsored by the Norfolk United Church of Christ Green Team. Registration is limited to 12, please register below.
