Here's How The Reading Program Works
There are 11 special programs pebbled through the weeks of summer so sign up for music, science, crafts, dance and an adventure movie. All these programs are free and open to everyone. The summer reading program encourages children to read and come to the library. There will be PRIZES, reading logs, and fun! Registration is needed for all programs by calling the library at 860 542-5075
Reading Logs
Reading logs are to be filled out and the more the kids read, the better the chance that they will win some great prizes. For every 90 minutes read, the children get a ticket to put towards their favourite prize. The prizes are thoughtful theme-related prizes. we do not support buying junk for kids. Please remember to sign up so we have enough supplies, chairs, food. Any questions contact Eileen Fitzgibbons at 860 542-5075 or efitzgibbons@biblio.org
Photo Display 2010
Take a photo thinking of the theme this summer—water, island cultures, shipwrecks, ocean life, ponds, surfing—and bring it into the library to be on display in the children’s room. Be creative, it will be fun to see the children's room decorated with your pictures!

Symphony of Whales
A performance with Steve Schuch
Weaving together science and performance, this program includes material from Steve's travels, CD's and award-winning book, A Symphony of Whales. Learn about whales, their songs and encounters with humans. Listen to an inspiring true tale of 3,000 whales trapped in the sea ice, rescued by music. Experience communication within a whale pod, and hear Steve's unforgettable "Whale Trilogy," a solo violin piece played with these mysterious songs of the deep.
