Join us at the Norfolk Library for our next Music Among Neighbors series featuring Andrew Thomson and Ken Storrs in a program of Scottish music and merriment on Saturday, January 27, at 4:00 pm. Feel free to wear your tartans. Registration is appreciated, but not required.

Andrew Thomson, ASCAP, (b.1988), has earned an international reputation as a composer, performer, and educator, and has collaborated with a variety of organizations, ranging from the internationally acclaimed choirs of Joyful Noise, Inc. to the United States Marine Corps. At age 18, Andrew was the youngest member of the composition and arranging staff at the Armed Forces School of Music. Following his enlistment, Andrew earned a Bachelors of Music in composition and percussion with a minor in anthropology from Ithaca College, under the tutelage of Gordon Stout. Andrew currently teaches percussion in northwestern Connecticut, and continues to give clinics, recitals, and masterclasses around the country. He is the owner of Pipeman Studios in Norfolk.

Ken Storrs is a self-taught piper on Scottish Highland Pipes, Small Pipes, Didgeridoo, and has also added Bass Sitar to his bag of musical tricks. Ken has been playing for 21 years. He first studied bass guitar under Steve Gregoire. He completed courses at the College of Piping and Performing Celtic Arts on Prince Edward Island, Canada. Ken was the piper in the First Church of Winsted’s Boar’s Head Festival. He has been in several bands, including Cellar Door, Rehabitat Revamped and currently plays bass for Murder Monday. He shares his family’s love for ethnic music…especially Celtic, Reggae and the music from “Down Under.”
