Show Boat (1951) will be shown at the Library on Thursday, February 20, at 7:00 p.m. The film adaptation of the Broadway musical by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II follows the lives of the performers, stagehands, and dock workers on the Cotton Blossom, a Mississippi River showboat, over 40 years from 1887 to 1927. One of MGM’s most popular musicals, it features such classic songs as Ol’ Man River, Make Believe, and Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man.
